Thimothee is in Primary 1 and lives with his Mum, Dad and several siblings just down the road from the school. Yann got to know Thimothee in our last few weeks at the school and completely fell in love with the skinny, dirty kid with the enormous smile.
We found out that his mother was struggling to cope when we visited the house one day after Thimothee didn't come to school. It turned out his Mum had had nothing to feed the family the night before and hadn't wanted to force Thimothee to go to shcool on an empty stomach.
After that, we arranged for him to have porridge at school so he gets at least one meal a day. Yann picked out some fabulous six year old attire at the market which we delivered to his home amongst great excitemet.
A couple of weeks later we picked up a few things for the family and took them to the home, got Thimothee cleaned up and took him for lunch at the nearby tourist attraction Bujagali falls. Looking pretty fabulous in his new yellow Tshirt and making the most of the enormous sofa, Thimothee charmed everyone.

He chattered to us almost non stop in Lusoga, exhausting our limited vocabulary within the first minute but the lack of comprehensible responses from us didn't seem to matter in the slightest, he happily continued a running commentry on the day regardless... He selected steak as his lunch of choice and proceeded to demolish it in record time, despite the hinderance of a fork - cutlery being totally new to him.
Yann's input was not required at this precise moment so he settled for blowing raspberries into Thimothee's hand..
